Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the most important person who has ever lived. He is not simply a great teacher, a prophet, a religious leader, or an example of morality. Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the Lord. Everything about Christianity begins with understanding who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
The Bible teaches that Jesus existed before His birth in Bethlehem. He is the eternal Son of God who came into the world as a man. John 1:1 tells us that the Word was with God and that the Word was God, and John 1:14 tells us that the Word became flesh and lived among us. Jesus is fully God and fully man. He entered our world so that we could know God and be reconciled to Him.
Jesus lived a completely sinless life. He loved people, showed compassion to the broken, healed the sick, forgave sins, and proclaimed the kingdom of God. Yet His greatest mission was not simply to teach us how to live. He came to save us from our sins.
The Bible says that every person has sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, and we cannot make ourselves right with Him through good works, religion, or human effort. But God loved us so much that He sent His Son to do for us what we could never do for ourselves.
Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross. He took upon Himself the judgment our sin deserved and became the sacrifice for our sins. As Isaiah 53:5 says, He was wounded for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. The cross was not a defeat; it was God's plan of redemption.
But Jesus did not remain in the grave. On the third day, He rose from the dead. His resurrection demonstrated His victory over sin and death and confirmed that He truly is the Son of God and Savior. Christianity is not built merely on the teachings of a man who lived two thousand years ago. It is built on the risen Jesus Christ.
Jesus is alive today, and He calls every person to respond to Him. He calls us to repent, to turn away from sin and turn toward God, and to believe in Him. Salvation is not something we earn. It is a gift of God's grace received through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9).
